Robotic Partial Nephrectomy

A robotic partial nephrectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to remove a portion of the kidney while preserving the rest of the kidney tissue. This procedure is typically performed to treat kidney tumors, especially when the tumor is small and confined to a specific area of the kidney.

During a robotic partial nephrectomy, the surgeon makes small keyhole incisions in the patient’s abdomen. A robotic surgical system, controlled by the surgeon, is then used to manipulate miniature surgical instruments and a camera through these incisions. The surgeon sits at a console and operates the robotic arms with high precision and dexterity, while viewing a magnified, 3D image of the surgical site provided by the camera.
